How to Fix C-Posture in Your Golf Setup

If you’re struggling to rotate smoothly or generate swing speed, your posture at setup could be the problem. C-Posture is a common issue that limits both mobility and consistency.

What Is C-Posture?

C-Posture occurs when the pelvis is tucked under and the upper body is rounded forward at address. This hunched position creates a “C” shape through the spine — which locks up your ability to rotate effectively.

Why It Matters

Starting in a rounded setup restricts your torso’s natural movement, making it difficult to:

  • Rotate properly on the backswing
  • Sequence efficiently on the downswing
  • Generate clubhead speed

And over time, it can contribute to fatigue or injury, especially in the lower back and shoulders.

How to Fix It

Begin by training without a club. Cross your arms over your chest and work on maintaining proper spine angles while rotating back and through.

If you’re using biofeedback or a posture trainer, aim to “turn everything green” — a visual cue that you’re in the right position. Repeat this motion 10–20 times per session until the correct posture becomes natural.

Once you feel confident, add your golf club back in and rehearse your setup using the same cues. The goal is to maintain a neutral spine while staying athletic and balanced.

The Bottom Line

Eliminating C-Posture will unlock your body’s natural rotation and lead to smoother, faster swings. It’s a small fix that delivers big results — for your game and your health.
